Lesson 1.06 - Grades

Objective:  For you and your parents to learn how to check your grades.

Your grade is based on the points you earn on each assignment.  The total points you earn is divided by the total points possible in the course and the resulting percent is your grade.

You and your parents can check on your grade at any time.  Log into the course.  Click on gradebook.  You will see all the assignments that have been completed and the overall grade.

However, the grade you may SEE in the gradebook may NOT be your actual grade in the course.  The gradebook simply calculates grades for finished work and does not add in zero grades “unfinished assignments.”  If you finish all of the assignments by the due date, your grade calculation will be correct.  So, do all of the assignments in order and there will be no discrepancies.

The following grading policy will be used:

70% of the final grade will be based on:

  • Quality: Your current grade on work turned in.

  • Participation/Quantity: Your pace in the course based on amount of work turned in each week and the pace you selected at the beginning of the course. Monthly calendars and at least 3 assignments turned in per week for review or grading are the minimum requirements for the traditional pace.

30% of the final grade will be based on the mid term and the final exam. You must pass the final to pass the course.

Assignment 1.06 - Grades

  1. Show your parent(s)/guardians how to log in with your user name and password and how to check your grades.  Have one or both of your parents send me an email telling me that you have taught them how to do this (preferably with their own email account).  Please ask your parent or parents to put their name at the end of the email.
  2. Go to the In/Out Box and notify your teacher that this has been completed.
