Bartolome
Murillo was a Spanish artist. This article discusses this
selection of his paintings on display at the Los Angeles County
Museum of Art. The author is impressed with the 33 different
paintings on display. Murillo painted in the mid 1600s.
His subjects range from religious to family to common life in
Spain. His paintings are described as rich in color and were
influenced by Venetian and Flemish paintings that he had
studied. Two of the most celebrated paintings are the
"Two Women at a Window" and "Four Figures On a
Step." Overall, the author of this article describes
Murillo's paintings as "skillful realism" and suggests that
viewing Murillo's paintings is well worth the trip to the museum of
art.
