Rubric

Whether you write the paragraphs or the letter, you are still answering the same questions. Basically, you've been asked to respond to the following:

  • How has Ben and Jerry's mission statement changed? (product, social, economic)
  • Why do you think they've made these changes based on what you've read about them? (Show that you understand Ben & Jerry.
  • What would you add or delete from their mission statement to make it even better? (in your opinion)
Since Ben & Jerry's mission statement is divided into 3 parts (product, social, and economic), it is recommended that you organize your response into 3 paragraphs. Dedicate a paragraph to each part of the mission statement. Answer the above questions for each part.

Paragraphs-- Each paragraph has a topic sentence which announces the main idea of the paragraph. For instance, Ben and Jerry's product mission statement has changed in ___ ways, since they've published their book. Everything in the paragraph supports the topic sentence.

Letter-- The letter is paragraphed into logical units. For instance, the first paragraph greets the reader and gives the reason for writing the letter. The second paragraph discusses the change in the mission statement and so forth. This letter may be informal, yet business-oriented.
