Are you interested in being a
CAL Online teacher?

CAL Online teachers recommend what it takes to be an online teacher.

CAL Online teachers have learned that being online teacher takes more time than teaching in a face-to-face classroom.  It’s important to be a person who is flexible, patient, enjoys technology, and has a passion to teach online.  Teachers email with students at least once a week and talk on the phone with each student at least every other week.

Take the “Is Online Learning for Me” online quiz for students, but can apply to teachers as well.

How are the online courses organized?

Each course is organized by modules that are similar to units of learning.  Within each module are assignments that students complete and turn in electronically to the teacher.  Activities may include using web sites or completing a PowerPoint presentation for an assignment.  Students are encouraged to print out pages, copy and paste pages and scheduling appropriate time to complete each assignment.  An online course doesn’t mean you are online all the time.  Each course is aligned with the California content standards.
