DISCUSSION
The Depression still loomed over the world during the late
1930s. Some countries fared better than others did. The United
States was showing some vital signs, with the possibility of
recovering. It was a nasty fight and the US economy had been on the
ropes for some time, but was trying to get up. Incidents around the
world caused many Americans to worry. Adolph Hitler (Germany),
Benito Mussolini (Italy) and Hideki Tojo (Italy) were in search of
creating an empire and the Americans didn’t want to get into the
fray. They vividly recalled World War I in which thousands and
thousands of Americans died in what they believed was a war to end
all wars! Now it appeared as though that the United States was
about to be dragged into another war. A war that they did not
want. A war that they would eventually be dragged into and would
change the world events forever.
