Lesson 8.06 World War II Scrapbook

A scrapbook is a collection of artifacts that people put together to remember an event, a trip, or a special time in their lives.  Usually a scrapbook contains pictures, letters, newspaper articles, and even some artifacts as well.  World War II was such a major event in World History that many scrapbooks have been created by soldiers that detail their lives in the war, and wives who collect things from the home front.  When someone makes a scrapbook they write a note telling what and when the artifact was and why it was important.  This is so that when they look at it in the future they can remember the event.

A scrapbook would also reflect the perspective of the person depending on what country he/she was from.  A scrapbook of a Polish Jew would differ greatly from that of an American soldier.
